trying to hire new emplyees

So what is it with people these days. the ad is very clear as to what the job entails, where it is and what the pay range is. So it is a shipping/rec job with arehouse work. yet i keep getting resumes for computer techs. no where in the ad does it say you will have to touch a computer.

now on to the interviews. i get questions like ' when is the air going to be installed in the warehouse?', 'where are the OSHA required cranes to move the products ? (these are 10-20 lb boxes)', and then the best is 'i want $50k (or more)to do this job' it is an entry level job not management, not doing anything crazy, pull this, ship that, and pack the other thing. it is a very easy job.

but then again what should i think. people no longer want to get their hands dirty, they all want a desk job at an enormous sum of money instead of working their way up the food chain. seriously people have some very distorted views of work, money and their worth. i am guessing this problem is more previlent then most think.

Arizona of course

So I really need to chime in on the Arizona and the immigration laws. In a word GOOD it is about time that the laws that are in place are actually being enforced. As a LEGAL immigrant you are required to carry your green card. You are also required to show it when you are asked for it. So what is wrong with actually upholding the laws that are in place. People say it is infringing on the rights of the people… they are ILLEGAL so they are already committing a crime because they are ILLEGAL. The illegal’s are infringing on citizens and legal residents from getting jobs. But then again I guess they do jobs that are below most people. But really people what part if illegal aliens do you not understand. They should be put on a bus and sent home – period-end of story. We should not feed them house them, give them health care, or anything other than a seat on a bus going back to where they came from. The only thing we need to make sure of is that they do in fact get to where they came from. What good are laws if they are not upheld? What good are boarders if they are not respected? Recently in the Philadelphia area there was a contract killing where a wife was having an affair and got the boy friend (and a friend) to kill the husband, guess what they were ALL found to be here ILLEGALLY, so put them down or send them home. And since the US is one of the few places where they have the death penalty (which I think is only effective if it is used) tell the home country that their citizen will be put down or they can take them back. You will see crime drop, more people working and people will actually realize that the laws in place are being supported and in turn will respect the laws in place. Life will be better.

boo f&$#ing who

So I am reading some of the 'special articles' on yahoo today. 'how to survive a toxic boss' well boowhooo let me get you a towel. so your boss is telling you it is not any good and you are doing a bad job. get over it and do a better job. you want to be coddled go home to momma. In this day and age with the job market what it is do yourself a favor, quit your bitching, put your head down and get to work. You need to raise your game and the only way to move up and on is to get over it. Seriously! you want more money but not willing to work for it... you’re lucky you’re not taking a pay cut or collecting unemployment. if people would just stop worrying about everyone else, do what they need to do and what they are told to do their life would be a lot easier. But because in this country people are encouraged to question authority there is always the pushback of why and I don't want to.

Next time your boss tells you that you are not doing what your title says you are there is a reason for it. Maybe you are not doing what you were told to do (your job) but instead do what you want to do because as we all know you are the know it all and the place would fail without you, which is crap. Keep thinking you are an island and you will be flooded sooner or later, and sink into the sea never to be seen again.

It really is a shame that people in this country think that work is supposed to be nothing but a social club. You are here to make money for the company, to support and give the customers what they want at a price to maximize profits. And if your boss is telling you that you suck well maybe there is some truth to it.

closing companies

So I am involved in a few companies in various industries and I can not understand why it is harder to close a company with 2 or 3 people than a larger company? Maybe it is because you know everyone more personally, or is it that you can see the potential, but not the realization of what the company could have been. It really it is the worst thing to do shutting the doors on something that could make a boatload of money.

You are asking why it was closed. Well in short the person that was to run it would no run it. but now has vowed to show me. Well i hope so, but will it really happen I think not my good people, I think not. All of the people involved have the opportunity to continue selling but there is no more money to be put into the company. we will see.

The fact is that if you have the right people anything is possible but when you have a 'cancer' personality there is not much to do but to kill it, and in this case killing it is to close it. People say that's to bad and I will have more time to concentrate on the other ventures but I seriously do not believe it because if a customer calls they will still get the order full filled until we have stock on the shelves. I just hope that it is not here forever, we will see.

so what happens to people that were working but being put down? well they are ending up on the un-employment line. There is nothing left to do, nothing left to say as this was known for months. They are going to be pulling unemployment until they are able to find a job. .

no connection

so when they say there is no connection there really is NO CONNECTION. My crackberry works, email on the laptop works but I guess someone got pissed at someone and poof internet is blocked.

oh well.

so where was I.

yeah I was complaining the other day to a friend that also owns a company. we have come to the conclusion that the young people today do not give a crap about anything. Ask them to work yeah better luck finding a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. what is wrong with the young generation. i guess we owe them for keeping them down and not giving every last one a beemer or benz at 16. opps sorry go to work and earn it, then see how easy it is. Why can kids learn how to use their hands? why do they not want to get dirty? do they understand that the only way to get to the top is to work, get their hands dirty, learn how to do things and work their way up. but i guess we owe them. If you do not know how things work how are you ever going to be able to run it?

as always I am available to continue to discuss this it you feel like it. i can go on for a long time on this subject but it is getting late and I need to get some work finished and got to (thats right ) work tomorrow.

so a client enters

Enters into our humble abode. And do we work, well a little. We bs like normal work a little than the crap starts. I want everyone to take us around.we were the only client, we are going to cancel the order. And oh yeah lower your prices we pay to much money.

So what do we do make them happy, but the prices are not dropping.I have a PO that you sent last week and that was not an issue. But now it is. We will see

snow comming - so what

Ok so this was to be the mother of all storms this year, and what happens not much. My issue with this is not that people called out the day before, or even people calling in the morning saying they did not want to risk coming in for one reason or another. it is that the people who come in saying how much they like the snow and can drive through anything but with nothing on the ground they call out because it is toooo hazardous. Can anyone explain this, I call it "look at me" issues. but don't say a word about this. Now I am sure that there will be plenty of people who will talk about it for the next 2 days, but then again I guess they think they are entitled to do so.

But now the fun starts, on Monday what actually happens is this. Monday morning the people that were not there are going to come in finding that some of the things that they have been milking for weeks are done. Some of the other items they were supposed to get to are also done. so what they are going to actually do is make a mountain out of a mole hill if they find a period missing. oh well, I love bad weather as it shows the people that want to work for the best of the company than people that just want the paycheck.

Sunday night-are you ready for a new week

So it is Sunday night and I am getting ready for a new week. I wonder how many employees actually sit down and think about the week coming. You might be sitting back and asking why I get ready for the coming week. I will give you a hint, it is the same reason I go into the office over the weekend, and that is because first thing Monday morning someone will without doubt ask me a question that will take until noon to get to the end of. So it is not so much preparing for the week but trying to stay ahead of the curve.

So the typical Sunday night means thinking about what curve balls are coming, what might happen in order to not be surprised when something does go wrong. Then there is thinking about what reports need to get done and if I can should let others work on the draft or if I should get them to the point where the only thing that people need to do is upkeep. It is also dealing with suppliers in other parts of the world to make sure we can hit the ground running in the morning.

I should really get back to preparing for the week. I hope everyone has had a good weekend and enjoy the week.

the begining

So I have been throwing the idea of starting this for a while. I am finally doing it. I do hope that in the future I will be able to give advice, have guest authors and even dare I say it have some fun venting about the day to day life on how stupid and idiotic this world has become!

so start reading and have some fun. a wise man once said "life is serious business if you do not lighten up you will not make it out alive" if you can relate great if not ... oh well.

I will be on here 3-4 times a week writing about things I do and things I see, stories about people I intercat with. I can tell you it will be mostly true, I will change names, titles and companies. but really how funny is life it self, you can not really make some of this stuff up.
